I won't buy a knife with no finger guard. Learned that the hard way, Just be aware that is this thing slips you are getting stitches. All of the other Mora's are great though.

Great knife and price. Just realize this is the carbon steel version, not stainless, and will rust if you don't keep it clean and oiled. Or you can force a patina on it via one of the various methods like mustard or vinegar which will help protect it from rust and can look quite nice. Also, the spine is left unground to keep cost down, but you can easily file it flat to use with a fire starter or flint.

Exactly. These are Scandinavian working knives, not tactical knives. I can't think of any activity in my daily chores around the house or at campsites that requires stabbing. For drilling into hard surfaces such as wood, put the palm on the pommel and push. Knives are tools, learn how to use one properly and it will save you from unnecessary injuries.

But if you are really concerned with hand guards (or lack of), this one: https://www.amazon.com/Morakniv-C...FAC51ZMY7X is one of the best values, IMHO. Also the rubber coated handle is less slippery than the wooden handle.

If this is the knife Cody Lundin wears around his neck, I'm definitely in!

It would be fine for whittling, food prep, lighter work but it would be quite easy to slide onto that blade if you were pressing the tip into something/stabbing.

All I need now is a roll of orange electrical tape, a bandana and braid my hair and I'm set.

Yes this. I cringed the moment I saw the photo. Its unbelievably easy to do with wet/sweaty hands.

I just want to say that this knife is not recommended for axial forced movement. Carving and cutting with the knife blade in the perpendicular direction should only be used for this knife.

Source: have you guys ever seen your cousin cut his hand because he thought it was funny to stab a piece of meat and the knife hit the cutting board and his hand slid down the blade

Not great for whittling, blade is to long and too thick. They make one for whittling specifically but it's also a little thick.
