Home Depot is running a Free Tool Promotion right now.

The beauty of this deal is that I needed one (or two) new batteries.

So I bought the Battery Kit ($149 - NOW $129) and received the 2-Pack of 4.0Ah Batteries ($99 - NOW $79) for "free."

The discount was prorated across the Battery Kit and Batteries so I was able to return the Battery Kit and the net cost for the 2-Pack of 4.0Ah batteries was $59.48 NOW $49.00.

Two 4.0Ah batteries for $59 - NOW $49!!

Just a heads up. If you live in an area with a Menards they have their 11% rebate on everything this week. Usually Home Depot matches this rebate. I just tried to enter a purchase for today's date and it said not available. Hoping that will change though. The 2 pack of 4.0 batteries would then be $36.85 end cost before taxes.

Edit: Rebate is there now for purchases 12/8 thru 12/14.

Because you can only cancel items yourself that are shipped to home. The only way to get these batteries for 41.99 is to cancel the order you ship to home and keep the batteries you send to store.

If you try to ship both to home, you can not pick and choose which one to keep. You can only cancel the entire order.

I posted this same explanation a page or two ago; you must not have read the entire thread...
I did not suggest shipping both to home... Some people were being asked to pay more picking up the item they wanted at the store, or getting the order cancelled because the store was out of stock. I'm not sure you read my entire message.

"Why aren't more people shipping the item they want home and just ship to store item they don't want and cancelling via chat, text, or waiting for auto cancel if they never pick it up"

This is what you said no? You asked why more people don't ship the item home more. I answered why.

But to be more specific, the store and the website are basically separate entities. Physical stores also act independently of another. Their in store POS system is goddamn dreadful and is way behind their online system. The path of least resistance is by buying what you want sent to store and buying what you want to cancel shipped.

If you do the reverse have the 3AH kit sent to store, you would have to talk to a online agent. I don't believe B&M employees can modify online orders.

And I was saying I never suggested shipping both home - which wouldn't let you split the order. I did read your post and understand the strategy. I was just asking why the reverse wasn't AS recommended.

If you ship the item you want to keep to your home, most likely it won't become oos like relying on the store's inventory - rampant in the 9 ah battery thread. You don't risk the potential of the store clerk saying you need to pay more since you cancelled the other part of the bundle (I believe this was posted here). You don't have to drive to the store (1 hr round trip for me). And you can most likely cancel the "shipped to store" combo by text, chat, or just leave it at the store which will eventually cancel it.

The negative I guess is that your funds are tied up a while for the battery combo you don't want. That doesn't bother me. So this was just a question on the basic strategy. I could swap what you did and still receive the item I want for $41 or whatever, without making a trip to the store.

Credit to @riggedveda for this strategy btw

You can only cancel items being shipped. You can't cancel items picked up up in store(shipped to store)

Therefore, you have to go In pick up whichever item you want to keep. Can't avoid that part

I ordered what i want shipped to home. What i didn't want shipped to store.
After the items shipped, i chatted home depot and asked them to cancel the in store pickups.
They did.

I tried to cancel the kit through the chat shortly after ordering and they refused. What did I do wrong?

Order the batteries to be shipped to you; then have the rest go to store for pickup. Then never pick it up. The store will eventually return them and you never get charged for them.

They were not available for ship to home. I could only do a store pickup.
