(2) Ryobi 4.0Ah 18v batteries at Home Depot NOW $49

Home Depot is running a Free Tool Promotion right now.

The beauty of this deal is that I needed one (or two) new batteries.

So I bought the Battery Kit ($149 - NOW $129) and received the 2-Pack of 4.0Ah Batteries ($99 - NOW $79) for "free."

The discount was prorated across the Battery Kit and Batteries so I was able to return the Battery Kit and the net cost for the 2-Pack of 4.0Ah batteries was $59.48 NOW $49.00.

Two 4.0Ah batteries for $59 - NOW $49!!

I have a oneplus kit with older nicad batteries. I've been looking for a set like this so i want to get the battery deal. Anyone know where I can get a cheap Li-ion charger for these batteries instead of the full HD price? thanks.

Did they just add the batteries? I didn't see it on there last week
Not sure when it started - but it is available now.

What is the return "trick" for tool promo deals
No trick - your receipt will reflect the cost of the "free" tool (or in this case battery) as a discount across both items so you can return either of them and keep the other for a reduced price.

No thread-crapping intended, but I question the logic of stocking up on non-HP batteries the week before potential Black Friday deals are to be released...

Agree with both of these comments.

If something better pops up, then you return the whole purchase when you buy the better deal.

If not, you got two batteries for an (apparently) 3rd best in a year price.

All these complaints about the return truck being known are counterproductive. SD is always getting new people, and if you're like me, you'll forget about it until a deal pops up. Good job OP.

I just ordered the P117 charger from Direct Tools last weekend for $15.99 certified pre-owned. Cheaper than eBay prices.

I attempted this last week and they said I had to return all items and not get to keep the batteries.

Perhaps I should try another sales associate?

What is the return "trick" for tool promo deals
In store: when you buy an item that includes a free tool, the receipt will divide the total amount ($150 in this case) between the item and the free tool based on their respective retail values. So you can return either and keep the other at the reduced price.

Online: same thing as in-store, except it will NOT work when the combo including the free tool is listed as a single item. Basically you have to make sure that when you add the 3AH battery kit and the 4AH pair to cart, the cart reflects the reduced prices. Then you can use the receipt to return either in the store.

Additional note: A few store employees have refused to accept such 'partial returns' (though they're not). This is not common though, so just go to another home Depot or try again during the next shift.

My sure-fire method with these: In the cart, I mark the item I want to keep (4AH batteries) as delivered to me, and the item I want to return (3AH kit) as pick-up in store. Then AFTER the 4AH ones are delivered, I chat up an online rep and get the rest of my order cancelled. The beauty of this method is that even if I'm forgetful and don't cancel the store pickup, it automatically gets cancelled for me when I don't pick it up, and I receive the prorated refund automatically.

I've never seen Ryobi BF deals (except lawn/garden), at least those that were any good. HD usually puts these deals out around this time and then does a slow series of price reductions until mid-Feb to clear out the inventory. So you would just hold on to your receipts in case that happens. I can totally see this dropping to $100 eventually, which is where it should have been to begin with.

Those are the old 4ah batteries. Theyre not the HP ones. They're not even the lithium+ version. These are junk.
You fell for it and got taken! Now, you're encouraging others to be a fool like you

Correct that these are two generations old (Lithium, Lithium+ and Lithium +HP), but I'm not sure that means they are junk. I'm not sure why Home Depot is selling / promoting these, but not even the Lithium+ batteries.

Personally, I'm trying to stick with the +HP's for max brushless tool utilization.
