Just used this drill yesterday. Variable speed is a joke. Was drilling 4-3/8" holes with a hole saw and this drill has 2 speeds, "so slow I won't move when the teeth bite" and "so fast I rip your arms off when the teeth bite".

Should be fine for regular homeowners use. I have had a cheap hammer drill before to use for drilling through our old houses' concrete basement walls and it worked just fine. If you aren't a professional it will probably do everything you want.

Hammer function is not as powerful as a 10amp+ drill (common sense there) but it is good enough for a few here and there wall hangings/etc.

Of course maybe you want a 15amp behemoth to go through 8 feet of solid concrete, a car, a truck, the side of a bank vault and a railroad car......

I have this drill and love it. My house is in PR and all concrete, and this drill gets through the walls easily for hanging Christmas lights, tension cables, security cams, etc.

I have this drill and it worked great to drill through my brick exterior to hang a hose reel. That's all I've used it for but I have no complaints whatsoever except that I paid a lot more than this for it. Tempted to buy another one at this price but I only need a hammer drill once in a blue moon so mine should last me until drills feature lasers instead of drill bits.

Bought a cheap Ryobi one from direct tools sale 2 weeks ago. They haven't shipped yet. Wish I'd of waited and seen this. Wonder if they will ever ship hammer drill, jig saw and sander.

Edit. Upon looking at the item, " usually ships within 1 to 2 months" if u need this right away look elsewhere
