I own two of these. As full on tablets they suck but as reading devices and watching an occasional video they are pretty great.

Each of my kids have a Fire tablet to use with Youtube Kids. When we're vacationing and in the car for long periods, it works well with keeping them calm by throwing a bunch of movies on an SD card. Pair the fire tablet with a 32GB SD card and you've got yourself a cheap portable movie player for the kids.

was looking for this deal (on Amazon.com) since the last PW deal. Just went official today (November 22):

Fire HD 10 32 GB with ads - $99.99, without ads - $114.99
64GB with ads - $114.99, without ads - $154.99

New Paperwhite (waterproof) 8GB with ads - 84.99, without ads - 104.99
32GB with ads - 104.99, without ads - 129.99

Got mine (PW 8GB with ads for little over $46 including tax - had 25% trade in discount and $25 credit from last deal and was waiting for this.)

Edit: added little detail.

Got one during prime day because it was so cheap. It's quite slow and the low resolution is noticeable, but it would still make a decent gift for kids or for a gift exchange.

I tried to find a use for mine but it sits in a drawer most of the time as I already have a Paperwhite for reading and would rather use my phone or TV for watching videos.

Same. Snagged the 32GB + Amazon Fire tablet case for $20 on Prime Day... absolute steal. Still not sure if it was a price mistake or not, though. Totally agree with you on the review. I find myself not using mine much.

My older model is just sluggish as hell when you have a couple apps running. Did the upgrade the RAM at all?

Solid deal although I hope we will see them lower BF. QVC just had the 8 for $39 after coupon with sd card. We use them in several rooms to run a dashboard web app to control our smart home devices. Solid tablets. Target had the 10" for $80 a while back and I missed it. Prime day had some great 2fers: 2 of the 8" $80 and 2 of the 7" for $50. Hoping those come around again BF.

Seems like a good deal. Especially for kids they love them. Watch videos and play games and parents can restrict time on them per day.

However this is from a review. Only 1 GB of RAM. Not enough for most adults. If you are just reading and carefully surfing the net and such. Keep all windows closed but one it should still work most of the time. The processor is also faster than the older ones.

"The biggest updates to the 2019 Fire 7 are internal. Amazon made a slight bump to both the processor and storage. The Fire 7 ships with an updated 1.3GHz quad-core processor that Amazon claims is faster than 1.3GHz quad-core processor in the previous model, along with 1GB of RAM."

Has these been updated with regards to processor compare to the 2017 models? My 2017 fire 7 is now used solely as a baby monitor screen, but still need to reboot from time to time to get rid of lags...

I would like to so the same for my kids. Probably a dumb question, how how are you getting the movies on the sd card? Torrent them and then put them on the card?
Thanks in advance
