UPDATE: There are claims that the Google Store will price match the 3a/3aXL price via chat support. YMMV. (Unlikely to work now)

It is unknown if these are permanent or temporary price reductions.

TMobile charge $20 convenient/support fee if you buy the phone in store. I didn't know that and they won't mention it until I checked the receipt

I believe you can unlock them after being on a T-Mobile plan for 40 days (if the phone is paid off). Some have had luck asking @tmobilehelp on Twitter DM for an early unlock but it's no guarantee.

Of course. Most phones sold through carriers will be locked.

It seems a new line / plan is required to purchase the 3a. I'm an existing T-mobile pre-paid customer.

You may be able to ask t-force (@tmobilehelp on twitter DMs) to place the order for you if you're having issues. Ask them to waive the support fee because the website is having issues.

Their pre-paid account management is trash, unfortunately. You may be able to go to a T-Mobile store and purchase on site, but I can't guarantee that.

I understand it being locked to T-Mobile for a while, but does anyone know if the firmware is modified in a way that would prevent security updates? That required T-Mobile to test before sending them out? I'd prefer to get the updates directly from Google.

A friend bought a OnePlus 6T a while ago, and T-mobile is way behind on the security updates for that model. (The non T-mobile version gets updates quickly)

Thanks.
