I just ordered the play version at best buy. Is the only difference between these two is that this is Verizon and has a bigger battery?
This comes with a year of service, service alone retails for $70-100, and you can probably unlock after that year.

This phone is similar to the LG Fiesta deals recently, but those came with a month of service for that price.

This is a screamin deal at 30.

How do you order to ensure that you get a model of the phone that operates on the Verizon network ? Can I use this phone with a Verizon network Net10 annual plan sim after the included plan is used up (<12 months) ?

Will this work with an existing TF account I already have, or do you have to get a new number and new activation?

Does anyone know if the service days&minutes has an activate expiration date. Say I leave it unopened for years, will it still activate when you finally start it up.

No it doesn't work for tmobie or att
Tracfone seems to not issue any new phones using AT&T. I was lucky to get several LG Sunset phones on AT&T from HSN years ago. Now if you could activate it and the port the new number and minutes to AT&T with a Tracfone BYOD sim, that would be an interesting experiment. The phone itself should have the GSM frequencies in it's radio.

Tempted, the card they give is good for a year, so it seems the timing is close, would we need to extend the time past a year and then ask for the unlock code? Or maybe just having it for a year is enough even if we go past that time?

According to FCC:
In order to obtain compensation under the settlement, consumers must:

Be a customer of TracFone (including its brands).
Request handset unlocking from TracFone.
Use the locked device with TracFone's service for at least 12 months and redeem cards for airtime usage on the TracFone network for at least 12 months.
Possess a TracFone handset in working condition that has not been reported stolen, lost or associated with fraud, and not have their telephone number recycled or ported.
Meet certain timing requirements. For non-Lifeline customers, the handset must have been launched on TracFone's service after February 11, 2014, or activated with TracFone's service after February 11, 2015. For Lifeline customers, only the original approved customer is eligible and the customer must have activated on TracFone's service after February 11, 2014.
Customers in the military who are actively deployed do not need to meet the service activation and air card redemption eligibility requirements.
Customers are eligible for the program only once every twelve months.

When i needed my TF phone unlocked i had to wait a year. Years ago 1000 minutes HSN "deal" was more than i could use in one year so i had to pay $10 to keep airtime from expiring. Or if there was a "deal" on TF prepaid cards i used those.

Let's say this lasts me 6 months.
Will TF be stingy about porting out after that?

I had that happen and I just set up new email account and paid with another credit card and looks like the order went through fine.

This phone comes with a Verizon SIM.
The phone is locked for use outside of the Tracfone Family of Companies.
The phone is unlocked for use within the Tracfone Family of Companies for use with a Verizon/AT&T/T-Mobile SIM. DL models have the unlocked radios for any of the three.
As has been stated it can be unlocked after 365 days of uninterrupted use with the SIM it shipped with.

This is a good deal but---Ebay has 1200 min, txt, 3GB data for 39.99 now. yes it might retail for the 70 to 100 but you can find specials on it also.

There is a thread on the tracfone for 39.99
You can order it so you will get a card and then be able to add that to any phone.

I did order 1 of these also as I felt it was a good deal so there is no doubt about it being a great deal.

People mention this won't work with AT&T or T-Mobile. Are they referring to before it is unlocked? So TracFones current network is on Verizon. after a year when this is unlocked it should work with AT&T T-Mobile and Verizon correct? Sorry I'm probably overthinking this.
