Upscaling is an issue for 720p and OTA content. Yes could get external device to upscale but that defeats the purpose of built in TV applications. Great price but I do watch OTA and prefer not to have blurry picture. Rtings noted this plus lots of reddit reviews. Great if u just have 4k.

I was almost ready to buy this but I like to watch older TV series. Also if I use Vizio apps it will use Vizio up ale. Bummer. Still... Cheap for 399.

for everyday TV watching, not a lot of movies. Is the M series worth the extra $200?

Don't be bashful, at least list the price in the title.

Is the upscaling of 720p content (DVD's, over the air) all that much worse than with other TVs?

He's referring to the vizio m658 Costco cyber Monday Dec 02 deal. That and the TLC 65 6 series $599 on Black Friday are the better tv "deals " this Black Friday thus far

Saw the TV again at Costco and Sam's. club. After a 2nd view.... Well... It produces a picture that is ok. Better than Samsung 6 series. Better than cheap HiSense. Was hoping to be as good as Samsung 7 series but not even close. Tlc way better even at 4 series except the screen is too glossy. Looks like better off with Vizio m or Samsung 7 series. Too bad. 399 is tempting.

Now, when you see the demos.. The TV looks fantastic. That is true. At 4k only signals...it looks great. At lower resolutions it sucks. Contrast takes a hit where a better TV could still show better image. That is why you have to be careful. Demos show max potential but not common viewing which is lower resolution and lower picture quality.

I notice that with my projector. Pump 4k..its awesome... Pump 720p....its ok
