It does seem worth while since it is a full 2060 and I'm guessing the 90 day return is pretty much no questions asked?

btw, I looked back at my Lenovo p73 benchmarks and the reviews seem to rate the Fire Strike scores (this unit) at 15033. That's not too bad.

P73 units I had:

9750h / RTX 3000 score: 13850
9850h / RTX 4000 score: 19055
9850h / RTX 5000 score: 19551

yes, it was strange that the RTX 4000 and 5000 (both MaxQ) had extremely similar results in many 3dMark tests. Supersession was another story as the gap was further apart.

Need the same feedback. Don't know the current state of the overheating issues, but they definitely existed for this line of laptops when you google.

Check out this review: https://www.techspot.com/review/1...75-raider/

According to techspot, this laptop actually runs cooler than most of its competitors. The review is for the ge75 with a 2070, i would bet it runs even cooler with a 2060

I think he means the ones on rak with the retail price + 300-600 back in points.

IMHO, this is better since you get a Coscto to return it within 90 days, or so it seems, plus an extra year of warranty. Not sure how their warranty is these days.

I am still trying to hold out and see what comes around. I looked at the Lenovo 740, but after my issues with their Thinkpad p73 I just cannot trust them. I had issues out of the box and it was clearly THEIR software issue and they refused to assist without spending $200 for software support.

The forums mentioned, on the p73, that the RTX3000-5000 cards would throttle down to 800hz if one of the sensors detected movement. Really, on a laptop?

I saw those postings AFTER I sent it back, but users needed to install an enterprise release of their management software or something. Not the kind of support that you expect after paying 2500 (RTX3000 unit) - $3800 (RTX5000 unit) with a theoretical 40% off.

Got this.
I am too was on the fence between y740 or this. Everything are identical except for the GSYNC (Lenovo has it). Gsync is not
Been researching for months leading today's decision.

My research indicates the ff:
1. GE line for MSI is one of their high end version
2. MSI has been picked multiple times by reviewers as number 1 manufacturer this year.
3. Lenovo 740 has many reports of the curve like panel (Reddit it).
4. The warranty for Costco is unbeatable. (5 years if you have their CC)
5. The aesthetic of Lenovo are more pleasing to the eye and the IO being at the back makes it more easy to organize.
6. Through use of some c@shback sites you can have up 10% back with Lenovo purchase.
7. The use of Costco will give u 2% (roughly 24 bucks) when you buy it with the CITI creditcard.

F.Y.I.
To those who keeps saying there are thermal issues with this version (GE) please research well. The MSI gaming line has many versions and alot of them do have throttling and heating issue. This however have been tested by many YouTube reviewers and websites and shows improved handling of any heating issue as well as the throttling. If you guys don't want any heating issue their Titan line are the way to go.

Finally, expect the following when it comes to gaming laptops. This one is no exception. Bleeding issue (YMMV), battery life (really be realistic please), and mediocre speakers (this one actually have better than most).

Please if you have any questions ask me. I'll answer it as best as I could. I did a ton research for the laptops that are I expect to be with me for the next 5 years.

Wondering if the $100 protection for accidental drops and spills for 3 years is worth it.... notebook will be for a 13 year old who has been know to drop iPhones and iPads (but probably no more often that others his age) but he probably won't be carrying this around as much as his iPhone and iPads.

Thoughts, comments?

I would.
Repeated behavior is a good indicator of how people take care of their stuff.
I would also slap thatt 100 bucks on a 1300 laptop. No brainer.

How to get the warranty to 5yr? CC adds 2, what gives the original 3, or do you buy squaretrade for 3?

Yes sorry it's extra 99 for the square trade.

So, does the ST really get you to 5 or do you basically get 3 that includes accidental? I thought that ST extended the manf warranty, so the first year is through them (sending to china) and then they cover the rest? Bug, since it seems like the costco CC adds 2 years then only accidental is added? Not a bad thing mind you, but I didn't think that equated to 5 yrs?

I have purchased a few ST warranties, but I have never attempted to execute on them.

It overlaps the current warranty, with 1 additional year of accidental
