It allows you to connect an ethernet device to your wireless network at the location of the extender. Totally optional to use.

This thing sucks. It's signal is shit and very inconsistent. Some days it gave 40mbps and others more often less than 1mbps.

A quick question. What is the Ethernet port for? Do I have to place a network cable from my primary/main router to this Ethernet port to create wifi range extension?
Thanks.

I bought this a couple weeks ago at 20$ and it works great so far! Easy to setup and helps I crease signal towards the end of my home

How's the bandwidth with this thing? I've tried so many repeaters from different manufacturers and all slow down not only the repeated signal but also the main AP signal.

You can make wired into WiFi. Tethering is the app it uses.

this supports both 2.4ghz and 5Ghz bands

I didn't measure local network speeds ..I only measured internet speeds using fast.com

the 5Ghz extended network gave me exactly half of my main 5G network (200Mbps--> 100Mbps)

the 2.4Ghz network was pathetic ...showing some 8Mbps

not techy enough to conclude anything intelligent except I switch all devices that support 5Ghz to that band

I doubt think it affects the main wifi speed in any way

I bought it because I was lazy running network cable 15ft from my router to AV Receiver. Setup done in couple minutes, working as expected. I am pretty happy about this purchase.
