Specs:

Has serial port and CPU supports AES-NI.
If you add a dual port Intel NIC (HP, Dell branded), this computer would make a great pfSense machine, possibly a little high on power.

LOL. I was just going to ask this question. I looked at the board layout, and it does look like it will accomodate a low form factor 4 port Intel NIC in it. I may just jump on this.

And you can swap out the CPU to something like an i3-8100, too.

This appears this may work well as a media player, it shows that this does stream 4k video good.

$129, and a 10% coupon for first-time buyers!

Price on page was $129 for me, and a 10% first time use coupon "10vipfirst" popped up so I used that to offset the sales tax in my area.

I bought 2: one for mom, one to add a 4-port ethernet card to and use as pfsense firewall machine for home.

SYSTEM SPECS

Non-standard motherboard form factor, 2 dimm slots, 180W power supply, has m.2 2280 slot.

Motherboard Specs: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05991290

I would like to make a pfSense box out of one of these, too. Already have the 4 port Intel NIC SFF card for it. Please post if you run into any issues with this card.

NOTE: Price is now down to $119.00.
To my surprise, there was a 17.95 discount applied by eBay and I was able to get this at 101.05

Followup: Received this in 2 days, and it is a very nice machine for a pfSense box. Had no issues loading pfSense via USB drive. It found all hardware, including the 4-port Intel NIC card and pfSense is functioning very nicely. I did install an additional 8GB memory chip, and a 120GB Samsung EVO SSD I had laying around. Very happy with this purchase, done through eBay seller VIPoutlet.

Thanks OP!

Yes, it is a 3.5" HD. Mine came with a WD Blue 500GB, and the whole computer looks to be brand new. You can also mount a 2.5" HD in it. Holes are predrilled in the mounting cage where the 3.5" is.

I want to slap an Intel i3 9100 into this machine. Anyone know if it's possible?

I do have pfSense up and running very nicely, but fear if I run too many packages it will slow down dramatically.

nice. thanks for the info.

from the link in an earlier post it states the mobo can use: Intel Core i3-8100, Intel Core i5-8400, Intel Core i7-8700, Intel Pentium Gold G5400 and of course Intel Celeron G4900. so it looks like you'd more be looking at the 8300.

After bios upgrade we can install 9th gen processor too. I found few youtubers installing i5 9400 in these along with nvme ssd and ram upgrades.

Wow, this thing is small... the Mobo is only 8"x12" - about the size of a sheet of paper. It's too bad it doesn't have more SATA ports, as this would make a great NAS (albeit not a lot of internal space), however using it as a pfSense box looks awesome with multi-interface NIC.
