The $45 in Sling credit is tempting me to go with the fire Stick otherwise the Roku seems to be a better unit. I did a 7 day trial with Sling last year and an not sure if the $45 Sling credit would apply to me.

Also it seems like you can't use existing HBO or Showtime subscription with Amazon stick since Amazon wants you to pay them directly through Amazon channel which is a bummer. Am I right?
Where to see to be sure you got the 45 credit?

Even the deal is good but I still can't find a reason to buy this firestick for a smart tv.
Depends on whether it's an old smart tv or not. I'm buying one primarily to be able to 'cast' videos to it, something I can't do with my Smart TV. Plus it's more modern.

My dad refuses to pay for TV so I grabbed him a 4k firestick and the recast. I'm hoping the learning curve isn't too steep for him. He has his shows he likes to watch and he HAS to be home on time to see them, I think he'll love having a DVR if I can get him comfortable trying something new.

I bought a regular stick on Prime Day only because it was a smoking deal (it's still in the box with the accompanying 3rd gen Dot)... I wish I would have went with the 4k because I ended up buying one a couple days ago with the promo code from Amazon. It is faster and has CEC ability to control HDMI devices, which I wanted. I do have an LG UHD but even if I had only an HD TV I would have gone 4k now that I've seen the difference against my old stick.

I would spend the few extra dollars and go 4k to save you the full price later on.
Personally I didn't need 4k so I'm happy with the regular stick I got (also on Prime Day).

Now I have a second TV so I wish I'd gotten two! If it was still Prime Day prices I'd grab the regular one again, but for only $5 more I guess I might as well get the 4k stick, seems silly not to. Shame you aren't my neighbor, I could just buy that one off you!

LOL, Amazon had an error advertising the 500GB model as 1TB model, so I got a $70 courtesy credit on my account Big Grin Brings my Recast down to $70, LOL. Best BF 2019 deal for me!

Wait, I got the 500gb model, I didn't get that credit, can I ask how you went about it?

They just emailed me proactively. When I look in my order history it shows 1TB. If yours does too, email them
