I bought this stick and it kept overheating on multiple TVs. Tried changing the cords out and all. Just a heads up!
I swapped the stick out for the Premiere and could not be happier. I love my Roku over all other streaming devices I've tried.

I had this issue too, but I ordered an HDMI extender from Roku here (free) and I've not seen issues related to over heating since. It still heats up a little, but not as much as before, and definitely does not affect streaming like it used to.

This or Fire TV 4k stick? Primarily need it for casting from phone.
I was a super Roku fan because of my TCL TV that has it built in. I got a FireTV stick hesitantly, but it was on sale. I like the FireTV stick better now because you can sideload apps and games since it's Android based.

I should note I was hesitant about the FireTV stick because of Amazon and Google's silly rivalry that removed YouTube from their app store, but they're friends now so it's back.

What if the TV is already plugged into Ethernet? For example if using Hulu via the Roku, will it pull the data from the TV's Ethernet?
No, unfortunately that's not how these things work. The Roku needs its own data connection (either WiFi, or Ethernet if you get the Ultra), separate from any data connection the TV has.

Is this the same product as ANY of these???

Was offered this by Roku.com directly to replace an outdated Roku....can't seem to find which model it is, and if it's worth it?? Or if there is something comparable on BF to get? Or better for a little more $? Thx!

It really depends on what you're looking for.
There are only a few decent devices out there in this price range. The Roku Stick+ and the FireTV 4K are both excellent values. The Rokus are in a heavily restricted platform.
The FireTV 4K is running Amazon's version of Android and there is a lot of potential.
The JetStream 4K is also a good option at around 40 from Walmart.

Thank you, I am not looking to buy something other than Roku. I just want to know if this is a decent Roku. We already have one Roku smart TV, and one Roku ultra and another TV. So do not want to change platforms right now

I noticed that too. Possibly the W is for Walmart. Maybe a Walmart exclusive model. Thinking it could just be just different buttons on the remotes. The pics show Walmart one has VUDU. Netflix, Hulu & Sling TV buttons. The Best Buy one has Netflix, Hulu, Sling TV, & DirecTV Now buttons.
Not sure if the other boxes include it but in the description for the Walmart one it says: Enjoy your $ 5 Vudu Movie Credit on your Roku player: go to watch.vudu.com/roku to redeem. Redeemable code is found inside the Roku player box. Offer expires 12/31/20.

Been using a firetv 4k for over a year with no problems. I also have a roku ultra, but it doesn't have a twitch app so I has been collecting dust. But if the roku had a twitch app, I'd be using that instead.. but firetv 4k def works 100% fine.
