This or pixel slate (m3?) Kinda think the slate would be nicer due to the weight. But unsure about the power. I5 is a tinge too expensive. I don't know if it will drop lower?
If you're going to use it as a tablet more, get the slate. It'll have better build quality and screen... Plus it's significantly lighter.

The bottom seems plastic. The lid seems plastic. I have to assume the chassis is metal, though as it is on the heavy side and it feels very solid with no body flex. The palm rest appears to be plastic too. So no, the surfaces do not feel premium.
All the video reviews I've seen indicate the entire body is aluminum except for the bottom cover.

Most of it could be aluminum. It just doesn't feel cool to the touch like other devices I have that are aluminum. It could be coated with something. It doesn't feel metal. I'd hardly be surprised if there was more metal than I myself expect because it is not lightweight.

It weighs 3.7 lbs. There's no way it's mostly plastic, even with the chassis being all metal. Have you actually seen one in person? It's not at all as you describe it...

The Slate has pretty bad reviews. Definitely do some research on that one.

Heads up, some of these use an i5 instead of i3. Went to BB asking for a gold one and the guy looked for it mentioning how HP messed up and used i5 on some for whatever reason while using the same product number for the i3, so rang up at deal price. Go try your luck for an i5 for some more power! Here's the side of box and CPU X Android app for those curious:

(Shot in the dark but if you're around the Westminster Mall BB in California the sales rep said he had 5/6 more of the i5 versions. Go get it!)

So you can't download MS Office onto this?
You can download from the Play store or use web based versions of the apps. I own this machine and love it, but one of the issues I run into is Excel is a bit of a pain to use. It just feels clunky.

I actually find myself using Google Sheets more when I can.

My girlfriend just bought me the new 15.6" Samsung for Christmas - link below. I haven't opened it yet. This HP seems like such a better deal for $50 more.

I'd definitely return and get this for $350. Better processor and double the RAM for a smaller screen is worth the trade.
