I have two 6TB Seagate Externals from a previous FP staples deal with similar concern. But, the reviews on Staples website said those who shucked it found barracuda drives (I haven't opened them yet, or even opened the package, so haven't verified). So difficult to keep track of the different models.

From what I can tell the 10tb model is a different beast. I've stayed away from the 6 and 8tb models of Seagate because they use SMR tech for writing. Super slow writes. The 8tb from Costco that constantly goes on sale for $119.99 is a great example. I had to return it. 20-30 mbps writes. Horrible. This one looks like a high quality drive. Willing to take a risk at least.

I shucked 2 6TBs and 4 4TBs from a previous YMMV deal at Target on these hubs and they were all Barracuda Compute drives.

Is this a 7200 rpm drive ? There are conflicting replies on Amazon question/answers, 7200 vs 5900.

Looking at the reddit link I just posted above your comment reveals it to be a 7200:
Seagate BarraCuda Pro 10TB Internal Hard Drive Performance HDD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 256MB Cache for Computer Desktop PC, Data Recovery (ST10000DM0004)
The bare drive is currently selling for $298 on Amazon

Hopefully Seagate has not changed the drive out since that 1y old reddit post

Bought two of the 8TB on the current Costco deal. Due to an issue with the promotion I had to chat customer service and I think I actually ended up being discounted $150 on the two drives instead of $100 ($50 each). At that price they were just over $100 a drive for a cost of around $12.5/TB.

This deal is actually a tad more expensive (~$13/TB), but with the possibility of the better drive I'm going for it. Me and wife each ordered one, so waiting for order to process through...we tend to have lots of issues with Staples canceling orders.

Good deal on this. Lowest price per TB on a new drive, basically ever.

You can use almost any kind of external hdd for xbox/PS if formatted correctly. However I would recommend an external solid state drive if you want to see better load times, etc in your games.
