I want to buy these everytime. I do tons of research each time. In the end it doesn't seem like the sound quality is great along with a few physical aspects. Owned a pair of A40s wired before they broke by me stepping on the headband. Those were amazing but pricy. Lasted a while, and I should probably just replace the head unit since amp still works. For the past two years I've been using a pair of wireless TB which was on clearance at target

I think what puts me off is it seems like SteelSeries markets heavy with some incentivized product reviews. Either that or they have a godly product here...

You should try some AD700X or SHP9500s then and really blow your mind away for under $100. Studio grade with large sound stages. Amazing for games like Call of Duty or anything that has directional foot steps playing a large role in combat.

AD700x is far superior to the shp9500s but the shp9500s are easier to attach a microphone to. I own both and many other headphones. They are by far the best bang for your buck when it comes to large sound stages.

Poor audio quality in comparison to the HyperX Clouds that I already owned. Extremely Painful earcups during long gaming sessions. Mic sounds tinny / noisy. No headband adjustments could be uncomfortable if your head is big. USB dongle is a long cable with dongle on the end which sucks for laptop use. Prefer the small usb adaptor that my HyperX clouds came with.

Also in general, my experience with Steelseries products has been poor.

I have this headset on now. It's extremely comfortable, audio output is pretty decent, but most importantly, the microphone capture is top tier for a consumer headset. That's very important for me, being on Skype for hours and hours a day. Most headsets don't come close.

Some other points:
  • The dongle is a round disc on a long cable, which works great when I need to extend range to the other side of the apartment.
  • It continues to function while charging.
  • If you just need voice chat for gaming, you may be better off with another headset with better output quality/options.
  • Stay away from anything ASTRO -- I've purchased multiple sets across their SKU line and they have this persistent ear buzzing issue across their products. It's remarkable actually. (See forums.)

Been using mine every day for just shy of a year now. Absolutely love them. Once properly EQ'd with Equalizer APO and Peace GUI they actually have a decent sound profile, and I'm someone who was using a pretty highly regarded pair of wired headphones (Beyerdynamic DT-1350) before deciding I needed wireless.

Also echo what was just said in the post above mine: I had heard complaints about the mic but I've used mine to do some Youtube karaoke and it even picks up a singing voice quite well, which is impressive for a headset mic.

To me their extraordinarily comfortable (I often forget I'm wearing them -- even got in my car with them on one time!) and the range on their signal is utterly insane. My laptop is upstairs and I've walked into my basement, as well as outside to a satellite garage and maintained connection.

Plantronics Rig 800LX. They are completely wireless and can be used on Xbox, PC, and PS4 when you put the switch on PC mode. They used to pop up refurbed for $50 and new for $90 but I haven't seen them in a while.

Thanks. I didn't realize it worked wirelessly with PS4. Will check it out - 150 is a bit steep, I'm leaning towards the Hyper-X Cloud Alpha. Not a huge fan of the Logitech's I got for $50.
