I have two of these. They are excellent. Can be loud on full power, but hey nothing is perfect. I can now smoke in my man cave and the smell will be completely gone by the next day if I leave this on running full power.

I wouldn't really worry about it. Wirecutter mentions:

Like many air purifiers, the Coway has an ionizing function in addition to its HEPA filtration. We recommend leaving the ionizing function off. The effectiveness of such features is dubious, and it draws additional electrical power. (On this model, you can tell that the ionizer is off when the button is unlit.) If you do choose to use the ionizer, you will be happy to know that it is certified by the California Air Resources Board not to produce ozone in excess of the 0.050-parts-per-million limit.

Personally I wouldn't keep the ionization on, but either way, it's probably not a big deal. Worst case just turn it off.

I might be a little more concerned about some of the amazon reviews, where they state their machines threw out plastic shards and the fans kind of exploded on them, but I expect they were oddities... maybe the owners forgot to take the plastic off or something like that.
My concern as well. How can something like this happen on a filter? How big of a motor is it?

I believe you can turn it off. It's a gimmick feature that people buy into; luckily most purifiers that have it give you the option to turn it offf. Once it's off, it's probably just fine as a regular purifier.

If anyone is still on the fence, I've had one from this deal for a few days and it's fantastic. We've been sleeping better, it's super quiet, and there is noticeably less dust in the air.

I just purchased a second one.

Unfortunately I cannot place the order on the white model due to CA restrictions. Funny black model goes through. But I need the white mode, it's cheaper.

Would this help with cat litter odor? I would like to put a small one next to my cat litter, I see the Levoit Vista 200 on sale for $68 but not very knowledgeable on these

This or the similarly priced Winnix 5300-2? Plenty of reviews on YouTube and blogs found via Google search indicate that the Winnix is on par if not superior to the Coway. The Winnix offers faster cleaning, less power consumption, and remote controllability.

I havent seen much of a difference between them. after having the winix 5300 the last year running it 24/7 it's been amazing. the winix runs quieter so it's great for a bedroom but every so often the fan has some whine... I've read the coway uses more power but has slightly better reliability
