The Manufacturer Refurbished Dewalt DXGNR 7000/8750 peak watt Generator is on sale at Generacs Ebay store for 499. This generator is $899 at Home Depot new, on sale for $799 right now. I am so upset, I bought it for $699 new from their ebay store a week ago which I thought was great deal. Dewalt appears to be made by Generac. Hopefully someone else can take advantage of this deal since I can't.
Personally I got a $500 one or $550 from Costco champion brand. It runs dual fuel which was a requirement of mine. I only run it off propane. Have no problem running it for hours while powering everything in the house( water heater, refrigerator, TVs, any lights, well pump, heater). Not tried the dryer yet with all this on but I know if I simplified what was plugged in it would do it if needed. Guess where I am going with this is the dual fuel for me was super important and propane is less mess. And I store both 20 gallons of fuel and 4 propane tanks. Which is at least 5 days.
Year 2 on the champion Costco one: 8 power outages using a double throw manual switch over. Works well for my situation and the champion powers the whole home.

Seems like a great deal with electric start at this price. I'm sure it is a re-branded Chinese something-or-other (as they all are in this price range). Possibly similar to Generac. Odd that it says "Premium DEWALT engine" I didn't think DeWalt made any gas engines....
If I was in the market for this would definitely buy. Remember these will be large, heavy, and moderately loud. The smaller "inverter" models in the 1000-3000W range would be much better for many uses. Unfortunately most of those don't offer electric start. And the name brand ones cost a bunch more. (a Honda 2KW will cost you 2x this 7KW).

I'm looking for one for home use, just in case power goes out. Can anyone make a recommendation? I'm thinking this one may be overkill.
this is actually the sweet spot in generators.
smaller ones are limited to only being able to power items you can plug into it (110v) , like a lamp, etc. it won't power anything that is hard wired (recessed lights, electric range, heater / furnace, water heater, etc.). plus running extension cords everywhere is a giant pain.
mid size ones like these can feed your electric panel (using an interlock kit) with the 30A outlet. it can pretty much power anything (except a central ac unit). so it is much more practical.
going larger puts you into a standby generator which is great but many time the cost of a unit like this one.
Is this truly a Generac generator or refurbished by Generac? I didn't see what the refurbish warranty was. I am always skeptical of these eBay stores that say they're legit companies I worry just someone putting up a front

Generac actually makes these, their customer service is generac as well. Called them for a question on THD because I was concerned about electronics.
