How's the 5ghz range on this? Currently have the R7500v2 and 5g range is just ok. Trying to decide between this and the orbi AC2200 or AC3000 systems on sale at Costco.

Got this to replace a TP link ac1900 to get a little better coverage in my 3200 sq ft house and was hoping to get better speeds as well. Speeds dropped by a ton. Dissappointed

How much better or worse is this compared to the 7400 Nighthawk at Best Buy for $90?

Plan is to get this for the first floor and the AX Nighthawk that'll be on sale at Walmart for $90 on BF for the second floor.

I tried the 8000P model of this router and the range and speed on the first floor was pretty good, but horrible on the second and garage. I plan to remedy that with a second router.

Anyone know how this one compare to the r6900(r7000)? I am thinking of getting this and creating an access point using the R6900. Or would it be better to get a mesh WiFi pack?

5gHz range is poor for distances regardless. It doesn't do well with walls. The 7500v2 was probably the best as far as stand alone single units and range. A recent firmware messed with it. I'm guessing the next FW update will fix it after they sell new routers to those who cannot wait.

Ummmm, that doesn't always work out well. Depending on the clients, mainly moving clients like phones, they typically will not disconnect and switch access points. So once they connect to an access point, they don't let go. This depends on the phone technology as well. Mesh wifi can fix that issue. I went with 2 unifi LR access points. For the first time in 2 years the kids are not yelling about the crappy wifi
