The adapter is worth it. I was using an Asus bluetooth adapter and was getting weird input lag. Figured out it was because I was not using the MS adapter.

I was always under the impression that the controllers with Bluetooth were able to connect to PC's without the adapter and without issue. Is the adapter actually required for newer controllers?

Does it support multiple controllers?

Can you buy the adapter separately and will it work with other current gen Xbox controllers?

Yeah - it's ~$20. Might want to consider a spare controller included here for $20 more.

Just wanted to add the Wireless Adapter is one of the best things I bought this year. Using a USB cable to connect my Xbox One controllers to my PC was a hassle.

It's definitely been released for quite a while now. The controller and adapter came bundled with the Oculus Rift CV1 when it first launched back in 2016.

I saw videos on youtube, the newer controllers have bluetooth and work with windows 10 without this adapter. There are instructions on how to get it to sync. You need this if you have an xbox one non-s controller which is only wireless and not bluetooth
