My preliminary research shows that the higher Version number doesn't always mean better or more powerful. Ex: V7 Animal or Absolute be standard V8, Motörhead, etc.
With that said, haven't been able to easily find information showing all the different models and how they compare. Heading into Black Friday with a vacuum on my list and figure it would be helpful to learn.

Wife says she doesn't want to deal with switching heads to do the high pile rugs we have. I Ordered and cancelled the Target V7, then ordered the BBB V8 animal for $200, then ordered the Amazon V8 animal for $200-$20 amex offer so I will be returning the BBB and maybe I'll get to keep my cash back lol, will end up being $184 after tax for the V8 animal.
V10 can still be had from BBB for $279 but I can't justify that for spot cleaning.
So sitting back and waiting for an even slicker deal to hit me in the face next few days.
