target.com order issue - information email

I placed a target.com order and their system reused the new order number with my last placed order. Consequently they charged my gift card and basically lost the new order itself. I had to waste time showing them the email order confirmation and charge date review to get this fixed.
Such a huge retailer and this kind of systems issue was beyond disbelief.

If it helps someone or if anyone else faced this kind of issue, would be good to know.

Some people in another thread had issues with their built up Target gift card amounts disappearing.

Family member gave me a Target Gift Card couple years ago and when I went to use it there was hardly anything left on it and someone had used almost all of it out on the west coast!! Target refused to do anything about it. We don't do Target GCs anymore!

i had the target gift card used in east coast but they finally refunded it after 2-3 months of following up

I have similar issue. I logged into my target.com account today and my gift card balance was gone. I still have my receipt from the last purchase and I can confirm, there is a balance left on it per the receipt. Also in my account there are no other orders online or in-store so that rules out that the account got hacked. To me it looks like a glitch on target's side. Don't save any target gift cards to the account or app I can tell you that much because one day it will be there and the next...poof. Gone just like that. Also the target customer support was basically useless at helping to resolve the issue.

I was also talking to other people on social media and they said they have the exact same issue happen today. I am not sure if it because of cyber monday??
