For those people who are taking advantage of Anova and Monoprice circulator deals, here is the perfect container for your sous vide. This is the lowest price according to camelcamelcamel

I have both Anova Precision and Monoprice circulators and this container has just the right height for them. This does not come with lid so you need to order it separately. The lid is $5 on Amazon. The material is soft enough to cut with just a box cutter.

Container:

For an extra $5, I would just buy the compatible lid that has the cutout made for the circulator.

I tried purchasing the lid but it's $9.99, not $5.

Thanks for the post. I ended up picking up the Warehouse one for an extra 20% off... getting it for $9.84.
I suppose that makes me feel better after having paid $19 for one last year. I use it at least once a week and wouldn't mind having a spare for making side dishes. I also recommend using a lid and neoprene sleeve (we like the Everie sleeve [ebay.com]) if doing longer cooking times (i.e. prime rib).

I don't think I've ever used a lid on mine

What's the advantage over just using a big pot?

Looks prettier since see-through. That's all. By the way, the best use of these plastic containers are defrosting large pieces of meat in water in fridge

Any comments on whether the plastic hinges lid or the silicone lid. Listed on this post?

I have been using the plastic hinged one for over a year. It works well enough.

For anyone looking, definitely buy a top with a cutout. And the Everie works great.

Silicone lid is great. No problems.

This can be used for defrosting and marinating, or mixing up something big.

Metal isn't great for marinating either.

Metal is OK for defrosting if it's your only large enough container, but the water bath is going to get warmed up by ambient temperature faster.

You can also use these to faux "vacuum" seal ziploc bags by dunking them, and the nice big opening helps with that.
