Brother makes some great units, especially multi-function. I will typically check out the CDW outlet for deals as they will get marked down pretty well before being liquidated even though they are just open box or clearance units:

The items here get marked down regularly until they are either sold or liquidated so if the price is not where you want it to be, just keep an eye on it.

I'd call CDW to check stock and place a phone order vs online as the outlet items are typically only a single piece in inventory. If you place an online order it can take up to week to find out it was sold already.

Here's a few that stood out:
HP M130FN for $52 + ship: https://www.cdw.com/product/hp-la...80?pfm=srh

HP M130FN recertifed for $70 + ship: https://www.cdw.com/product/hp-re...00?pfm=srh

Brother mfc-l2710dw for $100 + ship: https://www.cdw.com/product/broth...30?pfm=srh

In general, you won't have to worry about maintenance since your printing volume seems like mine. My starter cartridge for my brother lasted over a year and I think the cartridge I bought has already lasted 3yrs+. Laser printers were designed to be workhorses, not a money draining pia like inkjets, so your maintenance problems will be behind you. We have 7 brother machines, the oldest going back to 2007 and they're still running well even after some of them have hit 100k+ pages.
