Switchmate Rocker Smart Lighting Switch also Switchmate double + power kit. $11.99

With knowledge that people are on the fence on the quality of these Switchmate Smart Switches, they are the easiest switches for places where you can't use one of the other wired switches such as an instant-on fireplace. (Why I bought two).

At $12 and a liberal holiday returns policy, this is a no-brainer to me. It looks like they're clearing these out although Switchmate seems to still be going strong with a slimmer version of this switch and one with motion control being released somewhat recently.

I wouldn't use Switchmate as my primary home automation solution but rather I'm using it to augment in three places.

The double rocker + power kit is also on sale for $39 which includes a bridge to wifi via the "power" unit IIRC.

I have Switchmate switches and the Switchmate power outlet hub and both are very spotty. When they work it's a very good automation system with Alexa and Google Home integration but the hub drops offline all the time and will not come back online until you unplug the power outlet hub. A year of firmware and app updates have not fixed the issue.

I suspect it's a wifi issue so I'm going to work on tuning my network to always try to keep them online. I recommend looking at other home automation solutions.

You could stack a TP-Link Kasa unit in front to reboot the hub on a schedule. Big Grin

I have the older version of the Switchmate that I use on the rocker switch to control the outside garage light.

I did not want to bother with replacing the rocker switch with a "smart" switch.

Works perfectly.

So the switches connect via WiFi? And does anyone happen to have them working with Home Assistant? (https://www.home-assistant.io/int...witchmate/)

I was about to checkout with two of these and double checked Amazon for reviews. There seem to be an abundance of issues with the product's ability to support Google Assistant and Alexa. It seems to go back and forth on feedback that shows it working with either assistant. Can anytime else speak to their use of this product with Google Assistant?

As an update, I have found the Switchmate account sync in the Google home app and a YouTube video from last February showing someone linking these switches to work with Google Assistant. I'll roll the dice

I have the same issue. POS totally. The power outlet has always-on LED. I am using it as USB charger. Don't expect any automation or IoT.
