Really want to get a Shun, but they still so expensive, even on sale. What other brand/knives are on par with Shun, but not as expensive?

Shun is very very well priced for what you get, including the warranty and support. How much do you want to spend and what kind of knife?

Does 15% (email signup) off work on this? Just don't want to waste email signup as this will likely be in exclusions.

Premier 8" Western Chef - $170 (normally $210) Western = thicker, heavier duty version of the regular chef, 20deg edge as opposed to the 16deg standard edge https://www.williams-sonoma.com/p...ed&isx=0.0

Hikari 7" Asian Chef - $190 (normally $280) BY FAR THE BEST PERFORMING ON THIS LIST https://www.williams-sonoma.com/p...ed&isx=0.0

no. most of the premium brands are excluded from those standard email incentives.

Tojiro DP is about $60 if you catch it on sale. It's not a Shun but it is a similar Japanese made, high Rockwell hardness rating, sharp angle, thin blade

I'd suggest using camelx3 instead of SD deal alerts. They used to go to $60 often 2-3 years ago, but recently it's usually just third-party sellers that have a handful in stock. Probably not enough inventory to post an SD thread. You'll need to move fast when you get the camelx3 alert.
