The race between MSI, Asus, and HP is heating up. Getting a little confusing, but still wish there were other laptops popping up as frequently (really looking for a standout on build quality, would this Omen feel more premium than the Asus Rog Strix and MSI GE75 varieties or should I have my eyes on other models entirely? TIA)

Based on my experience with MSI and Asus, ASUS comes top with their build quality. MSI gaming series the build quality felt plastic and not premium for the price. Have to see how HP Stands out since it's made of carbon fiber plastic.

Would this be better than the Lenovo y740? I was looking at the 17" for $1279 on BF. Price isn't really a factor in the comparison since I had already planned to buy the Lenovo

I think that the Lenovo is much higher quality and better video card. Cooling on Lenovo is the top. HP has left a bad taste in my mouth with every product I've owned from them.

That's how I feel. Always trusted Lenovo, currently have the y510p, and the people I know with HPs seem to have more issues. I just didn't know if the gaming ones were possibly different/better. I think I'll stick to the Lenovo! Seems like a great deal anyway

Any report on the screen refresh rate for this product? Been waiting for predator helios 300, missed out on the b&j deal. I'd undervolt this and have a cooling fan for the sake thermals but have no info about the screen refresh rate.

I've had last year's for 16 months. Same chassis with a GTX 1060. It's a very solid laptop. The palm rest feels like brushed aluminum. Easy to open and upgrade. The hinges are strong. No issues. This is a really good deal, pretty sure it's 144hz screen according to HP's site.

Warning.

HP is an evil company that will not cancel an order you place with them for any reason they try and stall until it ships. They then charge a restocking fee if you send it back.

Terrible customer service, the worst. You wouldn't believe how bad their customer service is.
