CTL Chromebook Tablet Tx1 $199.99

CTL's Black Friday prices have gone live and I have been waiting to buy this tablet for this price. Typically on sale for $279 this is the lowest it's ever been and plenty of reviews seem to like the performance of this little tablet. It's specs are identical to the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 and the Asus Chromebook Tablet CT100 which are typically sold for about $80 to $100 more than this new.

Chrome Tablets have the added benefit of being able to run Android apps and games but then you can attach a keyboard and get some work done natively through the Chrome side

Free Shipping (For orders over $99) (1-5 Business Days)
Available for orders over $99 to customers in the continental USA (1-5 Business Days).

I also was NOT charged tax although that may differ to different parts of the US so YMMV

This or the 10.1 Samsung A that was $199 earlier this week? Is one significantly better than the other?

Thank you for that. I'm sure that's helpful information to anyone interested in this tablet.

Both the tablets I referenced have the same auto update expiration date so maybe it has to do with that generation of tablets as they all came out around the same time

The 4:3 aspect ratio makes for a better web browsing and e-reading experience but other than that, if you were only looking to use it as an android tablet and not take advantage of the ChromeOS side of things, probably not

One runs ChromeOS, so they cannot be considered direct competitors. Some schools require the use of it, which is one reason to consider Chromebooks.

What's really the difference because isn't chrome OS basically mostly browser-based anyway?

Good tablet, have one and really like it - great price. Not great for gaming, but excellent for general productivity apps, streaming, etc.

Not really. The ChromeOS tablet (this one) can install and run Android apps as well as Linux apps. The Samsung is just a regular Android tablet. The Samsung is likely better if you're a gamer, but the ChromeOS tablet is more versatile.

Cool, thanks! I'm looking for a tablet to run some Android apps (larger ones that I don't love to have on my phone all the time--not games), as well as to use to read textbooks (a lot of PDFs mostly). Sounds like this would be perfect?

The 4:3 aspect ratio definitely makes for a better e-reading experience as well as a web browsing experience. The higher resolution should keep text crisp and the IPS panel will provide great colors and viewing angles

Yeah I think so. I really like mine, it's no speed demon but it's fine for general stuff like you said. I watch movies, read Kindle books, audio books, wrote in Docs (personal) or MS-Word (work), get mail... All of that is easy and hums along nicely. Android apps run well, I haven't had any compatibility issues with them. Note: my comments exclude gaming as I'm not a gamer.

I don't seem to be having any issues adding to cart, can you explain further what the issue is? I was able to ad multiple quantities as well add it to cart from both chrome on my phone as well as PC.

This is probably a loaded question, but how does this compare to the base iPad (2019) with the A10 chip, from a performance standpoint? I realize they are completely different operating systems, but I am mostly concerned with which one is more likely to feel "fast" 2-3 years from now.
