Westone is honestly a bit of a company that time forgot. Each of these products here has alternatives that sound better for the same price or less. They've been around a long time, but the in-ear headphone market changes quickly and they just don't really compete anymore — especially at these prices. A pair of Etymotic ER2XR will outperform all of these options handily for $125 on amazon.

Westone might not be as fashionable as some Chi-fi and assorted blingy, high-price IEMs of late, but it never went away and, like Shure, has long been known in the professional music sector for producing good, solid (and among the most comfortable) IEMs. And when it comes to sound, everything's subjective for sure, but I doubt most people would think the ER2XR beats the W40 (even in the bass department). The EX4XR, perhaps, but that's in another ballpark, price-wise (about 50% more than this deal) and Etymotic IEMs are a bit polarizing when it comes to comfort.

It's like comparing a Honda civic to something like an Aston Martin. Both of them serve their purpose but in a totally different way experience wise

I'll grant you the comfort, but I don't think you'll find many people who take audio seriously who would say that any of these westones — especially the horrid B50 — outperform the er2xr. Maybe the w60, but not by much — it's extremely overpriced even on this sale.

But Hondas are more reliable than any other major leading brands since they are Japanese. So, in this case which one is the Honda and which is Aston Martin?

I was seriously very close to purchasing a pair of ER4XRs until I saw this Westone deal. Now I don't know what to do. Are the B50s really that bad? How do the ER4XRs compare to the W40 and B50s? FWIW I do enjoy bass-heavy songs. And comfort isn't a huge priority for this particular purchase, as I plan on getting fitted for custom sleeves and made for whichever pair I ultimately get.

Combine with $25 off $250 AMEX offer (YMMV) to make it slightly better.

The B50s are horrendous. They're a legitimately bad pair of headphones. Don't waste your money on them. The ER4 are substantially better than any of these Westone offerings.
