Don't know much about cookware other than I need to replace my current pots/pans. Is this a solid brand? What are some good brands that are mid-range? I've been keeping my eye on All-Clad factory seconds...

I recently purchased this exact set for the second time. Our first set lasted almost 10 years. This is a very solid brand. I'm not sure how it compares to All Clad, but i do know if you out the All Clad name on these, the cost would probably double. I believe this set is available in 3 colors. Keep in mind this is non-stick.

I don't believe that all-clad would sell these because it looks like these just have a disk on the bottom, rather than being fully clad. Fully clad cookware supposedly provides more even heating, including up the sides.

The pecking order seems to go like this: Calphalon < Anolon < All-Clad
Then you must consider what type of material is being used (cast iron, titanium, anodized aluminum, copper, ceramic, stainless steel, etc) and how much you want to pay of course.

The quality and performance comparison between Anolon and All-Clad seems to be nearly identical by most of the reviews I've read. Both brands use similar stainless steel, copper and aluminum construction and heat evenly which is most important. I too was looking at All-Clad seconds but after some research have decided it's not worth the premium to me and would instead be happier with the Anolon. To each their own.

All-Clad has most of their products manufactured in the USA using American steel although lids and other pieces seem to be made in China. But all of the bonded cookware is still made in the USA.
Anolon I believe is manufactured outside the US in Thailand and China, maybe other locations.

This deal is NOT non-stick or hard anodized. That's just the name of the promotion for the free 3 piece set.

The non-stick question was answered from Anolon rep at the bottom of the page:

"Thanks for your question, Emily. The Anolon Nouvelle Copper Stainless Steel 11 Piece Cookware Set doesn't provide a nonstick interior. For excellent cooking results follow these guidelines: Allow foods to come to room temperature (10-15 minutes) before adding them to the pan. Preheat the pan on low to medium temperature setting. Do not preheat on high temperatures in order to heat the pan faster. A small amount of oil, butter or margarine is all you need for easy food release. It's important to heat the butter or oil to the right temperature. Should you have additional questions, please contact our Consumer Relations Department at 1-800-388-3872 Monday through Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm PST excluding holidays and any one of our knowledgeable representatives will be more than happy to assist you."
The Nouvelle Copper line comes with or without non-stick depending on your preference.

If you want to take a look at the Nouvelle Hard-Anodized Copper non-stick 11 piece set, it's also on sale for the same price as the original post:

That's the dilemma. I personally don't like nonstick coatings on my cookware so I went with the dishwasher safe stainless steel!
