Great knife, but I'm not sure if this is really a deal. It has been this price for months at Cutlery and More as well as at B&M stores like BBBY and Home Depot for a bit.

On an unrelated note, all Shun knives have "D" shaped handles which are designed for right-handed people only. Just something to watch out for if you're a lefty.

It's in Tualatin, Oregon. Call 800.325.2891 and they'll tell you how to ship it in for sharpening.

It's a great knife but I can't sharpen it myself so I haven't used it in a while.

My first set of knifes were shuns and I regret it. They chip so easy! I feel like I take excellent care of them but I'm constantly finding new chips. Could be something I'm doing wrong but I don't have this problem with other brands.

Good knife. You may be able to find a professional knife sharpener locally. I saw one in a farmers market near me before and he said he charges $1 per inch.

Unrelated to this deal, Bed Bath and Beyond is having Henckels Pro 7-Inch Chef Knife for $49.99 again this year and you can use the usual 20% off coupon on top of that. Free shipping over $19. Or you can get a 25% off coupon in store today starting at 5pm. Check the store availability online first.

I personally prefer Wustof. It's a heavier, more durable knife. Shun isn't bad, it's just a lighter, more fragile, knife. It's kind of a preference thing I suppose.

They use VG-10/VG-Max whatever they want to farking call it, not many people know how to heat treating VG-10 and definitely not a mass productions knife company which make the blade very brittle, my only advice is to stay away from VG-10 steel and get Ginsanko or SG2/R2 but if you must have VG-10 try Kurosaki. Tanaka or Masakage brands.

Real talk, most of them farmer market sharpeners use grinding wheels so try your best to avoid them before they're ruin your knife. Legit place who actually use whetstones charged about $3 per inch.

That is most likely true. I didn't ask for details since I always sharpen my own knives on whetstones. :-)
