Best robot vacuum in its class!

Better then the Shark IQ R1001AE with Self-Empty Base, due to a lot of issues with Shark's software, APP and issues mapping.

I love this Navigation Demo:

Plus all the comments I found on YouTube and reviews on Amazon are very favorable for the Roborock S5.

$399 Neato D7 is a better value, in my opinion. Bigger bin and multi-floor mapping.

From the youtube reviews, its seems that the S4 is newer, less expensive, and has a larger bin that the S5. Currently its $60 less expensive than the S5...I'm thinking that the S4 is slicker deal.

Yes, but the S5 is better on medium/high pile carpet. S4 has trouble getting though that and lacks a mode that boosts the vacuum power when it detects carpet. Also, S5 has the mopping attachment.

Do you have carpet anywhere?

I wish I could upload a picture of my carpet. But, it truly is nothing more than just .5 inch, regular carpet and it sticks so much since getting it on Wednesday. Again, I was warned but wanted to give it a chance.

I am fine with the s4 overall, really love it. Rugs were no problem. Having to press the suction level manually wasn't an issue. But I ordered the s5 because if I'm going to buy a robot vac to cut down on me physically having to maintain my floors, it needs to work properly on all of them including carpet.

I'm hopeful the s5 will have no issue on my carpet. It will auto detect carpet and bump up the suction, I hear. As long as it doesn't require supervision, I'll be good. It's a tried and true model that does what it's supposed to. Something I've been truly struggling with Neato for the last 7 years.

Will the brush scratch hardwood and if so is there a feature to turn off when on hardwood?

I went back and forth trying to decide between the S5 and the D7, which ostensibly has better functions. Ultimately, there were too many reviews of people having lots of trouble with the D7 for my comfort. So, I opted to try the S5. It'll be my first robot vac, so I don't have a great basis for comparison. I also considered the S4 but lots of reviews say it sucks on carpet (which seems odd, given we're talking about a vacuum).

What's the best mopping robot? We already have a iRobot i7.

I've had this vacuum for 6 months now, works like a dream. It amazes me how it's able to weave around any obstacles without a problem. I only have to use a vacuum for a few impossible to reach areas. I have both carpet and tile floors with long haired dogs. The spot cleaning for when the dogs bring in dirt is super handy for quick cleaning.

I have longer carpet as well, no issues. It actually vacuums better than our regular vacuum. I even have a large shaggy rug that it goes down into a lower power mode to go over.

For the folks that are having an issue with high pile carpets with their S4....maybe using the S5 roller/brush will help?

How does this handle area rugs on laminate floors? Will it just go around it? If I just manually vacuum the area rugs would the S4 be a better choice?
The S5 handles area rugs well and can boost its suction when it detects them. The S4 should be okay if the area rug is thin.
