Great price on quite possibly the best family board game we own. So much fun with the family building our train track path to link up cities. If your family enjoys game night this is a must own at this price. In fact we will be playing this game tonight.

Europe is a better variant. $27 on Amazon. (Don't think that's a sale price.)

Strongly agree. Given that this is an entry level family game, the routes and the map are structured so there's barely any conflict. It ends up being a peaceful tile laying game, whereas the conflicting routes in Europe creates some degree of strategy.

If you already have Europe, but never played this one, would you still buy North America?

My opinion, no. The north America game is less complex overall, so it doesn't add anything.

Until you get the 1910 expansion for US map then tables turned for me.

This is my favorite 2 player game to play with my wife. Most other 2 player games we've played were quite obviously built for more than 2 players, this game is just as fun with 2.

Unless for the sake of collecting, I'd advise against it. IMHO even the 1910 expansion adds very little to the game; some new routes but the mechanics are still very simple (trains only).

Europe has boats and tunnels, and the route cards often seem to overlap more forcing players to strategize.

Instead I would strongly recommend that you look into the Rails & Sails iteration of TTR. I've seen it go on sale for sub-$40 (normally $80). It's a map of the world and you can flip it over for a second map.
