Although it looks like the subscription is $7/mo ($70 Year) for this.

Actually, that is important info for those who may not realize why this thing is so cheap.

Or you can buy directly from Tivo, and maybe talk the CSR into adding lifetime service:

I purchased one from an Amazon reseller & had to send it back. According to Tivo, the serial number came back as stolen & even though I could prove I just purchased it, they still wouldn't active it.

Although this sounds like a good deal, occasionally TiVo sells these units with a lifetime sub that's just a little more than this.

That deal isn't too shabby if service is included in those monthly numbers. Basically you get the cable Bolt for about $120. Do they charge tax on the monthly fee?

Though I've been thinking of buying a used tivo to see if it really can replace my cable boxes and satisfy my wife.

I have a lifetime model bought at another sale, so I don't know about the monthly subs. I DO know that others have at times talked the CSR into adding Lifetime service, BUT, when done, that adds around another $199+ to the price.

I've ordered one from BB, planning on cutting the satellite cord mid Dec (Dish), never used a Tivo before, will spring for the $7 mo plan to make sure it passes the WAF (wife acceptance factor), had tried the Amazon Recast but it had such a poor interface (translation: wife hated it) that was a no go. Thanks for the heads up, Corwin!
