Lowest price ever, buy the external backup drive, open the case, and voila, it's a perfectly good 8TB Seagate hard drive for $50 less than buying just the drive. Silly, but true.

It is shuckable, but don't. You have a chance to need warranty service with Seagate Barracuda drives. Get the WD one instead. The WD Easystore is often on sale at Bestbuy at the same per TB cost. It has Red or equivalent drives in them.

Good call.

I've been shucking drives for about 4 years, and have never seen the Seagate under $120 until today.

The WD has never been under $120, afik. Right now it's $125 (also on Amazon), so if you're concerned about the warranty, spend the extra $6. (It's probably worth it, even if I've never personally experienced a Seagate disk failure)

I got the Easystore 8TB for $108+tax after 10% cashback last week.

Presumably this is an SMR drive, be judicious about what you use it for
