How well will this function when its 25 degrees F outside? Might be great for summer, but heat pump worries me.

These units heat all the way down to -13F outside temps. At 25F you're gonna see about an 85-90% capacity.

The line set is pre-charged with a pierceable membrane on the ends. When you go to connect the line set that membrane gets pierced in the tightening process. Be quick on this step or your DIY just became HVAC/R.

My only complaint about this type of DIY is the line set can't be trimmed back because it's pre-charged. So if the outdoor side of this (condenser) is close to where your lines go through the wall you'll have to hide what's left of the line set.

Also, these should not be used as primary heat in the NE. They can't keep up with demand after it gets about 20 degrees outside.

Not the case, these units use a pre-flared lineset with threaded connectors, they are not precharged in the lineset but in the outdoor unit.
