Possible to disable the lazy image load?

120 39 November 29, 2019 at 12:47 AM
Currently in Chrome, the lazy loading of images (ie., images don't load until you scroll down to them) doesn't occur until the full area where the image is to occupy is on the screen. This causes an issue when viewing the page as I'm constantly waiting for images to load now.

Is there a way to disable this?

Here is an example of item images not showing despite their location being fully visible on the page... notice that aside from one image, the rest of the images on the bottom row aren't rendering until you scroll further down the page. Is there a way to fix this? Or to disable the lazy image loading that is being applied? (Disabling the flags in Chrome and Firefox that are supposed to completely disable lazy image loading aren't having any impact on this issue)....

Also note that I only see this issue with the "Personalize Frontpage" default layout set to "Grid", if it is set to "Large Grid", the images will render correctly.

Hi plasticquart.

From what I understand, there are immediate plans for further work on the lazy loading of images to improve that experience but the short answer to your question is no, there are no options currently to disable this functionality on the site.

Also experiencing very slow image loading most noticeably on the front page. Thought it was just my internet but happens on laptop and mobile on my WiFi, couple other WiFi, and LTE. It very much detracts from my experience visiting this site. Hope it gets fixed soon

This is driving me crazy! Please add an option to disable this. Why leave 5 images in unloaded state and 1 in loaded in a row? I can't seem to wrap my head around it.
