Pretty good deal, and better than the previous one from BJ's
(https://www.bjs.com/product/acer-...0001858757)

- Although the one from BJ's has a bigger SSD. But for Amazon, i trust its customer service.

If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Predator helios 300 definitey one of the best overall and for thermals. Great deal

Honestly, it's not really a straightforward decision... I wanted the Triton 700 too, but the deal ended, and I went to Amazon, and found this deal.
I have been watching and reading reviews on both in the past few hours.

Advantages of the Triton 700 over the Helios 300 (2019):
- Has Thunderbolt 3
- G-Sync
- Aluminum chassis (All aluminum, i think), compared to some plastic on the bottom for the Helios
- RGB keys
- 32GB RAM (I think 16GB is sufficient for most users)
- Larger SSD (512gb)

Advantages of the Helios over the Triton:
- 144Hz screen refresh vs 120Hz (not too big of a deal to me)
- Better cooling when under load (Helios is already undervolted out-of-box).
- Trackpad is in usual position, but the one for Triton is right above the keyboard
- Newer CPU and GPU, but I don't know if the newer ones are much of an improvement over the old versions

Both the 1080Maxq and the 1660ti have quite the same performance, only a little difference between both:
https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...7vsm308045 (not 100% sure if it's accurate)

As for pricing, $859 for the Helios and $999 for the Triton... $140 more for RGB keyboard+Aluminum chasis+Gsync+Thunderbolt 3 (in the Triton) is a pretty good deal.

I bought this and the Triton 700 for $999 from B&H. The Helios ended up costing me $875 after $50 off Discover card promotion. Which would you pick?

Im not sure man. I know dave lee from utube said the helios was the best gaming laptop for under $1200 and that the thermals are fantastic. I would check multiple reviews. Sorry im not the biggest enthusiast out there

Hmm torn between this and the version at best buy rn with rgb keyboard and 512gb ssd for $1,100. I know it should be a no-brainer, but I feel like picking it up in a store would allow me to check for common problems like backlight bleed. Also heard that amazon doesn't refund items over a certain price point. Can anyone confirm?

I'm going to order the laptop right now but I was curious whether I would need to pay any fees for a return in case I find a better deal?

Amazon's return policy - https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201819200
"Items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1 and December 31 of this year, may be returned until January 31 of the following year for a full refund, subject to our other return guidelines listed below..."

Amazon has been pretty good with issuing refunds.
If you want to be sure, just choose the option to pay monthly at checkout.

Thanks for the quick answer. I checked the policy and it's clearly stated that if the laptop is unopened it can be returned with a full refund.

"New desktop, laptops, or tablets (excluding Kindle E-readers and Fires) purchased from Amazon.com that didn't start when they arrived, arrived in damaged condition, or is still in an unopened box can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase."

About the monthly payment though, could you explain how that affects the refund situation?

Triton had 7700 if I'm not mistaking. Helios has better thermals plus the newer processors and GPU. 144 hz screen. I remember dave2d saying he has fallen out of love for thunderbolt 3 because of the price of egpu and overall benefits it provides vs the cost.

It seems Amazon is having a black Friday special as well with another $60 off orders over $500. YMMV on this. Would bring this down under $900, though.
