Very important for those that have family grandfathered in under their Prime Account!!

Q: I am a long time Prime member and I've never turned on Prime Household - so I still have 4 other Amazon accounts who share my Prime shipping benefits (they dont get anything else other than free shipping) - if I take advantage of this deal, will I become a non-Prime member for a day and have to sign up again new meaning I'll lose my old Prime sharing benefits?

A: Correct. I accidentally did that two or three years ago and lost that benefit.

Looks like turning off auto renewal is not an option. Now what?
looks like its slightly aggressive with auto-renewal and so you have to end membership first.

I forget, but is there always tax charged even on the membership?
Yes there is sales tax on Amazon prime membership but that is dependant on which state you live in.

Commonly somewhere around $11 tax on the full price plan.

Why do you need to do this? It's already tax free when I checkout.
Many states charge sales tax for Prime membership. Like California and DC.

Also, I noticed that auto payment will apply credit card rewards by default, even if you uncheck the box and continue just to check again and see the box re-checked. so, best to use up your cc rewards at your banks website before hand if you let it auto-renew. you get less credit for cc rewards if applied thru amazon.

I only see cancel membership under my Prime management. Can you no longer turn off auto renew, is cancel the only option?
There is no option to turn off auto renew, only a "reminder" feature to remind you to cancel right before it ends.

Hope that helps.

they probably do this on purpose hoping people will forget and let it auto-renew as its more money for them especially if people dont use it to the full benefit.

Not a huge savings, but better than nothing. Used Discover card for extra 5% back. Thanks!
