Got this one during July 4th sale. Put in an M.2 SSD for a boot drive and moved all the components into a 4U server chassis. It has been rock solid.

Looks like this has PCIe slots... assuming a good video card could this be used as a gaming rig? They just announced that new half life game and I needs me a PC!

This comes with a 290 watt power supply, which limits how powerful of a video card you can use. I'm not familiar with how powerful of a video card you need, but you will want to make sure the card you want doesn't need more power than this can provide.

Nope. You can add ECC RAM in any of the 4 available slots, after you get it.

Lol was considering this before (prior to sale). I just picked up the Black Friday special Synology DS1019+. For someone who plans to use a NAS primarily for PLEX streaming and data backup, which system is best?

I currently have a Qnap 451+ but Plex is too buggy and won't work reliably

I think the Dell would be WAY more flexible than the DS1019+. Mine runs 24/7, very stable never needs a reboot. I run Plex on a different server, but the T30 handles my Blue Iris with no problems.

How is this server still a great deal 2 years later for the same price. The hardware is old, the CPU does not have HT, the x30 series is EOL this coming year?
