Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine (BES870XL) $366.74 via PriceMatch BBB w/ Coupon (YMMV)

BBB is handing a coupon for 25% off purchases today only in stores (cannot apply with other coupons). They have currently dropped the base price of the BES870XL (Both stainless steel & black) to $488.99 online. Go to the store and ask the associate for a price match with the below URL

Since this is a price match, you probably need to be personable to also use the black friday one day 25% off coupons at cash register. This reduces the final price to $366.74 + applicable tax.

YMMV but I just bought this about two hours ago (see attached receipt)

Nice score. Been looking for a deal on one of these units. Can't make it to BBB today, but will keep this in mind for the future.

Got it with the 20% The extra $30 isn't worth my time or the frustration of dealing with those crowds.

This is a great deal, not sure if any stores still sell BBB GCs at 80%, like $50 GC for $40, but that would take down the out of pocket price to close to $300.

How do you get it without the crowds?

If you can get BBB to do it great. Otherwise the Amazon coupon for $97 off the $488 price is live again as of 3:25 Friday. Just bought it.

Dude, you are MY HERO! This is gonna be a long post, in 3 parts: (1) The Deal, (2) Backstory, and (3) Ownership Tips.

1) The Deal: I have had an alert on this for almost two years. This is the cheapest I have ever seen it. SD pinged me, and I immediately hopped in my truck and drove to the nearest BBB. Not only did I see zero boxes of this model, they didn't even have one on display. I asked to see the manager. I was super nice. He knew were 3 had been stacked high up by the ceiling in another part of the store, and walked me over there. On the way, I mentioned the 25% off, and he said that was only valid before noon, but that he would give it to me. Sweet. He walked me to the register to instruct the cashier on the 25%, but then it rang up for the store price of about $600. I asked about an online price match, and the cashier immediately protested. Then I showed on my phone that it was to their own website, and the manager agreed right away. BOOM! That was so awesome; really made my day.

2) Backstory: I bought a REFURB on Woot! almost 3 years ago for $349. At the time, that seemed almost crazy to me, and borderline insane to my wife. The refurb was a compromise. No way we were spending $500-$600 on a coffee machine. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed a hand-crafted latte every single morning. It is fantastic! However, following a clean/vinegar cycle last year, the pump got flaky for a few days. I created the SD alert right then, knowing life without this thing would be a bummer. Miraculously, the machine went back to normal after a few days. Fast forward to last week, when I did another clean/vinegar cycle. It started flaking out again, making lots of noise and vibration, and not getting up to proper pressure. We had a lot of guests for Thanksgiving this week, and it was getting a workout. Maybe 4/15 worked anywhere close to normal. I could eventually get something going by fiddling with the 1-2 cup buttons, but not great. So, the timing of this BF BBB deal was absolutely perfect. This is the lowest price I have seen, PLUS a brand-new model for less than $20 more than I paid for the refurb almost 3 years ago. LOVE IT!!!

3) Ownership Tips: I ALWAYS use beans that were locally roasted recently. I always use the pressure filter for a double-shot. I have the grind settings more toward fine, and less quantity. I get the perfect amount with minimal spillover/waste, but I also do this: I use the single shot grind, followed by a light tamping to flatten it out, then do a second single shot grind, followed by a serious tamping. This approach gives me minimal waste, near-perfectly consistent pressures, and an excellent result. The last tip isn't directly related to this machine, but I purchased a "smart" pitcher for my milk steaming. It has temperature bands on it that turn colors as it gets hotter. They're about $20 on Amazon, and I like it way better than by feel or using a tiny thermometer. Idiot Proof.

I scooped this up earlier in the day at my local BBB. $396 after tax out the door.

For whatever reason, I've never hit the timing right for that Amazon coupon, and I order a TON of stuff from Amazon. That would have been nice also, but local BBB is OK too.

I was successful in Panama City Beach with the 25% coupon this morning.

Reserved online.

Lady scanned the unit for $699.99
She applied the %25 coupon.
She then said my total.
I said I reserved it at $488.99.
She did a price adjustment of -$211.00

Final: $488.99-122.25(25% in-store coupon)= $366.74 + $29.35 tax = $396.09 out the door.
