Overview:

Working with both Alexa and Google Assistant, your smart home's now simpler to set up than ever with the handy Lenovo Smart Plug, which lets you control any device in your home. Remotely cut off power to your coffee maker or electric stove if you forgot to turn it off in the morning. The Smart Plug also protects electronics and appliances from damage with an extra layer of surge protection, so you can rest easier.

The Lenovo Smart Plug fixes a perennial problem with typical oversized smart plugs. We've made them small enough so they don't block any adjacent ports, even on power strips. This mini-smart plug will fit just about anywhere without complications.

With the Lenovo Link app, you can control all your devices in groups or separately from one simple smart plug app—anywhere and at any time. And it's easy to set up, ensuring your first step towards a smarter home is both quick and painless.

Features & Benefits:

Easy-to-reach power button
Turn off remotely via Link App
Voice control via the Google Assistant or Alexa

Keep in mind the usefulness of these isn't in turning it on/off with an app, it's in being able to turn it on or off with your voice, set timers and routines, etc.

Some ideas:

Table/floor lamps are the most common use probably. Less functionality than a smart bulb but those come with their own headaches.

Old coffeemakers without a timer.

Window fan (turn if on/off with your voice from bed).

As someone said, xmas tree lights/decorations, but most already have timers for these.

Alarm clock (plug a radio, light, whatever you want into it).

Computer monitor, so when your PC wakes up at 3AM to install updates in the other room you can turn it off from bed (stretching on that one I know).

Saw in another thread where someone kept their router plugged into one and set it to power cycle the outlet every day at 3AM to reset the router (if you have one that tends to bog down/freeze up).

Critical medical devices - "Alexa, Kill Grandma".

I guess a good use this time of year is to connect a Christmas tree.

Good deal, especially given it has free shipping (add to title plz) and can handle up to 1800W which many of the cheaper ones cannot. It's also quite small. Why Amazon wants $25 for theirs I have no idea!

I won't actually be buying this because I find smart plugs of limited use. I use one for my espresso machine because it takes a while to warm up in the morning, but other than that I'm at a loss for uses for these things. Suggestions very welcome.

The amazon one is 1800W too (note that these all support less for motor/inductive loads). A bit larger but $5 right now.

One one hand it is probably the most compatible with Alexa/Echo but on the other hand the Lenovo is compatible with Google also, so guess it depends on which system you want to use, and if you like the smaller size of the Lenovo

Why not run those 24/7? That's what we do, and I assume most people do. With the advent of LEDs (as opposed to the "Lord Jesus Christ" Wink ) power consumption and reliability isn't much of an issue.

What the hell is this? It's the same $5 ESP8266 wifi plug all over Amazon and ebay, same exact size. What's with the commercial on the OP? Calling this BS.
Which you are fully entitled to do, but links to better deals would be really useful. BTW I'm being really nice only because SD sent me two Amazon gift cards recently for a total of $12 (Woohoo!)... otherwise I'd roast your a$$. Stick Out Tongue

I know how to fix that. Get a leaf blower and use that all day Saturday and Sunday. With luck you'll end up with better neighbors (after the old ones move out).

I still had $15 of the Lenovo rewards from that deal a few months ago. The rewards are still valid if you have 'em, two cost me $2.50 shipped total. Excellent deal, but YMMV

1800w is the max power from a 120V outlet (120v x 15A = 1800w) so to answer your question: yes.
