The weak points of the deal are the frother, when you can get a separate frother that cleans easier by Aeroccino, However, I've found that the best customization of milk is possible with a simple hand frother, after the milk is heated, and there's absolutely no clean-up or the burnt-milk film you get on other frothers, and they're $10 on Amazon. I tried some attached plastic frothers in real espresso machines, and they're just gimmicks that promise supposed simplicity and convenience, but that are hard to clean, rarely work well, and have tubes that get clogged and nasty. I'd even take low-tech frothing methods like shaking hot milk in a mason jar or using a French press to foam the milk.

The other flaw is that it uses Nespresso original capsules, which have a small portion of actual espresso and to me taste nothing even remotely like Italian espresso, just some shiny-foil concoction engineered by Nestle that tastes like bland chemicals, giving you a weak ounce or so of weak espresso for over 70 cents.

If you want a less expensive machine and something close to authentic espresso, italybestcoffee frequently sells the LB910 Lavazza Blue machine for under $50 (several epic SD threads on the deals), and you can get a variety of real-Italian Lavazza capsules for around 45 cents each on Amazon and other sites, or Italian-made Blue-compatible brands on ebay for less. The capsules contain about twice the espresso of Nespresso capsules (they have a 2 capsule that packs in even more espresso), and so you get a tasty and very potent espresso drink--I was bouncing off the walls all afternoon after a Lavazza Blue intenso latte this morning.

Great price for the touch. My wife has the Lat Plus for years and loves it.

Would have switched to this from my Vertuo-line Nespresso on this deal if I didn't just stock up with Vertuo capsules. It is a really good price for this Nespresso.

I have the essenza mini with just regular and lungo. Aside from frothing is the coffee making part at all superior?

Looks like a real pain to clean out the milk frother on this model since you have to take it all apart every time.

It does have an automatic cleaning function though

The espresso part of the machine is the same in quality as the other classic Nespresso machines... frother is relatively easy to clean, just take it apart and throw it in the dishwasher, well worth it. i grew up in Italy and moved to US 3 years ago, this is the closest you can get to authentic Italian espresso, cappuccino and macchiato, without using a moka. I had this model when it first released to Italy and now just ordered one for here

Yes, however, autoclean is only between uses. Should be fully cleaned once per week to ensure no microorganism growth

Yup, we got it to share within the team in office and the frother would be gross if not properly cleaned after a while.

I'm on the fence about this I picked up a Black Friday deal on the Vertuo combo with a milk frother for $125. I realize didn't realize Vertuo pods cost nearly twice as much as the original pods like this unit and it won't be like 20 years until patent expires so no cheap pod options until then much less more choice.

I can recommend this. I've had it for a month and feel the steam function is excellent and convenient. You can adjust how much foam vs steamed milk and how long it pours from the milk container. Cleaning isn't a big deal. I drop it in soapy hot water once a week and use a narrow brush to get inside the milk tube. The pieces come apart/together very easily.

Best of all the Peet's pods are excellent and can be had for about 30-40 cents. Costco sells and 80 pack for $38 for convenience but Ebay has plenty of unexpired pods for less.

Capsules, ugh. Kills it (for me) but if you can deal with the capsules rather than fresh grinding your beans, it's a 19 bar machine at least.
