Fyi, this was $189 back in August. I wish it would be the same price today.

I can proudly say I have both classic sets and I prefer Shun. They're both very sharp but Shun just looks nicer.

Both are great sets. I find the Shun to be sharper, hold an edge longer, and lighter. The problem is they are more brittle. The Wusthof is a little thicker and stronger. If you are harder on your knives or do more chopping or bone work in the kitchen, then go Wusthof. If you want more precision then go Shun.

if you're specifically asking between those 2 sets some things to consider:
the shuns' handles are designed to be used in the right hand.
the honing steel is nice, but not necessary if you already have one.
the "brunch knife" probably won't get much use.

Wusthof has more forgiving knives that can warp

Shun is high carbon brittle knives that retain edge longer but can chip

Overall depends on user on how they maintain, I seen a lot of people not be careful and they chip the knife and it is unusable, if you warp the blade you just hone it back to shape

The comments here are spot on. Our Wusthof have held up better over time. You can grind chips out of the Shun when they happen, but my Wusthof have never chipped.
