Where does it indicate that auto-renew is required?

Bottom of the checkout page, it shows this:

Uninterrupted Protection - Automatic Renewal Service

Webroot Inc. will conveniently protect your devices from ongoing security threats by, seven days prior to the end of your initial subscription term, automatically renewing your subscription for an additional year at the then-current applicable subscription price, which may be higher than the price shown above (plus applicable taxes), excluding any promotional or discount pricing available at the time of the renewal. For customers using our business products, the price will be reflective of your current usage. Thereafter, your subscription will renew annually. You authorize Webroot to use the contact and billing information you provide to automatically renew your subscription. You're always in control as you will be notified by e-mail before the expiration of your subscription of the upcoming renewal, and at that time you will be provided with a reminder of your cancellation options. If you do not want your subscription to be automatically renewed, you may discontinue this service at any time by following the instructions set forth in the Customer Receipt that will be e-mailed to you after you place your order.

I only knew as when I went to check out, Paypal asked to allow it to charge when it wants and I was like WTF? So then I closed checkout and bought Kaspersky.

Also, it isn't simple to find the opt-out. It is not in your online console, I checked as I have a current copy of webroot. The only way is to find this website: https://www.webroot.com/us/en/aut...wal-optout

Webroot used to be my go-to AV and I still have 4 years left of subscriptions, but over the past year or so it's become less than worthless. I'd avoid this at all costs, honestly.

Micky_d, to answer your question, Bitdefender is OK if it works on your system (LOTS of incompatibilities, always been this way), Avast/AVG is pretty decent, Avira is good, ESET is pretty good. Kaspersky, well, I wouldn't trust them with all the political/Russia stuff they were involved in. Microsoft Defender (on Win 10) is pretty good these days as well.
