I have qsee model QC888 from last year Thanksgiving Costco special, which stopped working. Want to know if this deal is better than Q See i got last year.

it came with 4x 5MP cameras and this LaView is 6x 8MP cameras.

which one is better between QSee and Laview.

How's this deal, Matt? I always wait for your thoughts but haven't bought a system yet. Was really hoping to get one this Black Friday/cyber Monday.

Hi 08CivicSi

Good question. I really do not know this OEM line of products, so it is really hard for me to evaluate it. A lot of what I have been learning is what others have shared - and so far I have seen little on this new kit posted in places I read more often.

Ideally I like a setup I can fairly well add or replace a camera and not get locked into a particular vendor.

See if you can find a good review online or some posting some comparisons of the cameras. ( certainly from a check list point this kit seems to have a lot of boxes marked )

Also remember, a security camera system is not a proper replacement to an security alarm system, so do not expect a security camera system to be as good for many of the alarm sensor functionality.

In terms of LaView - due to recent issues posted here on SDs - i'd be cautious ordering from them. ( CC info hijacked on their website due to malware and LaView did not inform customers afterwards... i.e. "your information may have been compromised" as well as sending 6MP Saturn turrets to SDer who ordered 8MP models and not resolving the issue without the purchaser having to pull in his CC company to deal with it.. thus be cautious
) See the LaView thread on it

Hi pvsreddy

Do you think the cameras look like these?
http://www.raysharp.cn/en/product-73-329.html

If so we may have a candidate for the OEM.
