My daughter wants a Nintendo Switch for Christmas and I'm confused about the "deals" I see. It seems they are doing a good job of keeping the price point at/near $300 (with high margin extras thrown in or special color controllers) but reports from last year show it selling as low as $240.

I don't believe she cares about the color of the controller (She's 9) and isn't likely to be a collector. I can buy it at the Exchange as a veteran with no tax and shell out the $300. but don't know if I'm missing the whole point of these deals.

Are we expecting any deals getting the price <$250? Am I missing something important?
Completely agree, not sure how these are even considered deals at this point until it's <250.

Says in-store only but do you think we can buy it online for in-store pickup?
Don't want to have to go hunting for it at each Walmart...
TIA

Would like to know this also, much rather order for in-store pickup.

I understand that Nintendo Switch is primarily a gaming console, but can I listen to music/watch videos from SD card?

Not really, the deal you got was $25 in amazon credit vs $20 in eShop credit (which you can buy eShop credit with the $25 if you want) and you don't get the case, which you can find cheap ones for 10 bucks or so on amazon.
I believe the Amazon was the old version.

I think the one from Amazon is the old model HAC.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll wait. My daughter's birthday is in February so perhaps there will be deals through Craigslist/Ebay/etc after Christmas.

Switch deals sucked this Black Friday. Last year had Gamestop giving out $50 credit for $299 Switch w/ Mario Kart. I'll wait till closer to Christmas to see if any sales pop up. I don't think many people went for Switch deals since there were none except for Kohl's BF.

I went with the switch lite this year. Rakuten had some pretty good deals with 20% off the $200 MSRP and then $30 in points for using a MasterCard to checkout. Bought a game with the extra points so all in all, got a switch lite for $165 (after tax) and a $30 game for free.

Now... just wish the new switch was available there at $240 after 20% and then $30 in points on top of that, would have been a great deal this season, but nope!

Was that today? I haven't checked, but it was available around BF, I did the $309 one because the $299 one had tax, got $60 off so $249. Used MasterCard and will be sitting on $30 in points until I find something useful. Not sure what's going on today because I'm just looking for a deal on a 34" QHD monitor.
