I use adobe 2019 elements. Pretty good software, but video cropping is rough. Does this do any better?

Davinci is awesome but it has a cost. "Time" if you have time to learn it there is not a better program. Corel is on the other hand is well laid out for beginners yet still very powerful when needed. Just wanting to say free is not always free when the job just needs to get done.

I use both and they both have their place.

Anyone know anything about this program. I'm looking for a video editing program.
1. Baby tier
Typically under $120

Corel
Magix
Cyberlink
Nero
Hitfilm
Adobe premiere elements

These all are targeted to the consumer, but nowadays, pretty much have a ton of features.
Mostly interchangeable at this level.

2. Mid tier
Adobe Premiere
Sony Vegas
Davinci
Edius

A handful of programs with enough features, power, and heritage to handle any short length film to independent feature.
At this level, it's the differences in how things are laid out, features, nuances in doing complex work that affect your choice.

3. Pro level
Avid

No, ZERO, film make today that goes to become a $500 million+ blockbuster worldwide is cut on anything else.

At this level, you're paid $$$ hundreds an hour as a professional film editor not to screw around figuring out why the baby and mid tier programs don't work, or don't work right.

TV stations, major blockbusters, live news, etc. It's only Avid unless you're a tiny station or trying not to get hired as a professional editor.

It is the Only standard at this level much like how Microsoft Office is the office document standard.

The networked editing and storage sets this apart from all the rest. You can depend on getting work done on Avid with a zillion editors working on a 100+TB 4K film at the same time from a zillion remote locations non-stop with no problems in real time. Everything else can't do it, chokes and dies.

...

Free versions.
Davinci free
Avid Media Composer free
Hitfilm Express
Etc.
https://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-free-video-editing-software,review-5301.html

No real support naturally, so you're on your own to figure things out when it breaks. But for the basics, Heck, even Microsoft Movie Editor can do the basics fine.

...

Free. Davinci is the all in one powerhouse that has all the basic tools you'd want to make a film look nice - sound, video, color.

Avid free if you're trying to become a paid film editor - pretty much just editing. Sound, you'd use their pro tools free (again, the industry standard). And you'd use separate tools for sfx and color.

Hitfilm if you're wanting to play with CW Supergirl/Arrow/etc like special effects.

...

Like any tool, it's easier to find programs that match your needs better if you tell us what you're trying to do.

E.g. For me, quick editing is on Vegas because of the layout and way it operates. Small program, light on the system, fast.

Add some effects, and it's Premiere + After Effects. More Sluggish vs Vegas, but more powerful for effects.

...

If your output demands include DVD/Bluray, you'd look at the baby tier - these often have burning capabilities not found in the higher end programs like Avid (they use professional disc mastering software).

Here, if you bought a dvd/bluray drive, they often come with free editing software.

...

All of these major programs at the different tiers have been around long. Decade+, so you can find cheaper, older boxed, new versions on eBay, too.

Most of the new features might not be used.
E.g. They add 4k editing in the recent versions, but are you ready and have the hardware to edit and show 4k?

You'll need a fast pc. 4k monitor to see your edits. 4k tv to watch the video. Etc.

If you are only editing 2k videos, older versions without 4k editing will work fine.
