Been waiting for this deal to come back. It comes on every couple months but think this is the lowest I have seen. I already have the floorstanding speakers and surround speakers that sound incredible. Just ordered the center channel and 12" subwoofer.

RC263 $161.95 center channel

R253 $161.95 floor standing speaker

Thanks for the information.

I order the JBL 530c and 520 a yesterday and they have already shipped. I went ahead and also order a pair of Infinity 253 and RC252. All the speakers have a free return policy. I am going to try both and keep the ones I like best.
I'm thinking the same here at this point...

Are the reference 253's a big upgrade from paradigm mini monitors?

I'm on the fence about the RC263. I've read its an upgrade from the JBL 520C, but its much larger, and I'm not sure it will make an appreciable difference. I have 590s in the front and 530s as my surrounds.

I just bought a pair of the Klipsch R-820's for half off, how do those compare to the infinity R253's?

Are these neutral , warm or bright speakers? Do the towers pair well since they're the 5 and not the 6in? Would 3 centers as lcr be better or worse than using towers or bookshelfs in front? I'm in a small 100sq ft bedroom 10x10x7ft and prefer neutral or warm with decent bass.

Could be trolling? I know there are much better than this (the low range on the r12 is I think 30hz). There are subs in the 200-300 dollar price range that have popped up on here that go down to 25hz like the Bic F-12, or the Bic pl-200ii that can go down to 22hz. However, those don't match as well with my current speaker set. I feel like at <150 you can't beat these, but I could be wrong.
Yes, you could be trolling I don't know, that's why I asked. You simply state "huge mistake" with no other information? I'm legitimately thinking of purchasing this so when one says "huge mistake" I'd like to know why. And quoting a spec sheet on a low range doesn't help (Especially when not all spec sheets are created equal and 30 hz vs 20 hz is a complete non factor for most situations).

If one is going to post "huge mistake" I'm hoping you've owned one, demoed one, a buddy had it setup in their system, etc... aka you have listened to in person.

I got the 520 cheap on Craigslist and I really do like it. That's why I've been searching for the 530 to match. Right now I'm pairing it with a pair of JBL 230 and maybe it's my imagination, but they seem a little off.

My 530s are being delivered tomorrow, so I'll find out soon.
Sweet, im the opposite. I have the 530s, just bought the 520c

As far as Atmos speakers, you do not need "Atmos enabled" speakers. Those are speakers that have angled speakers above to bounce the audio off the ceiling and bounce back down to the listening position. If possible, the optimal setup is to have in-ceiling speakers for the height speakers. 5.1.2 consists of 5 speakers (1 center, 2 front, 2 surround), 1 subwoofer, and 2 height speakers. There are a ton of different configurations depending on your receiver's capability. Easiest way to see al the different options is to type in Atmos configurations in Google and see what works best for your budget, how big your room is, and your receiver. Also, the manual shows what configurations it is capable of. Also, it will show optimal angles and heights of where you should set your speakers.
Maybe I wasn't clear about my question. I didn't mean I'd get the combo speakers that have Atmos. I actually pulled the trigger on the 5.1 part of this today. My question is more about those height speakers. Do they get connected like regular speakers, taking up 2 channels (meaning I can't do 7.1 if I get 2 Atmos speakers, I can only do 5.1.2), or do they somehow piggyback off two existing channels (meaning I can buy 2 more surround speakers at a later date in addition to the height speakers)? My receiver is a 7.2, Atmos and DTS:X enabled receiver, I'm just not sure if "7.2" means 5.2.2 or 7.2.2

Food for thought ->

The JBL 5 series everyone loves came out in 2011, with the 530s for ~$550. They get discounted to $300 and people still, in 2019, go ape over them.

The Infinity R162 came out in 2015, use technology from $1000+ Revel speakers for $500, built specifically to be the halo product of the Infinity line.... Barely anyone talks when they get put on sub $200 pricing! WTF.

The JBL's people still act like they are these giant slayers when they get put on sale and yet no ever talks about these. These are EASILY at leeassttt on par with the JBL 530s (different sound signature so it's all personal preference of course). I believe I've read some on reddit that consider them better.

Don't sleep on these speakers. If you are even thinking about it just realize it uses the same tweeter waveguide as verrrryyy expensive Revel speakers. Harmon owns both Infinity and Revel so I guess for the Infinity's top of the line they strapped that on it. Just remember these came out much later than the JBLs and at the same price bracket as the JBLs so yes, they ARE very comparable in performance.

Be careful when ordering. They default to two day shipping which is extremely expensive. Ground is free. I'm in the process of trying to cancel my existing order and place a new one to save the $55 in shipping costs.

So I don't have tons of space with the room I want to use these with, can I just run the R162 as my front L/R or do I need to use something like the R253?

12 inch ported Infinity R12 vs JBL 550 (non-ported 10 inch)? I just got 2 JBLs to go with my 580s... i imagine these ported 12s might be better, but the JBLs msrp at $500, Infinities at $160. What's the deal?
