I have tried rbk50, deco m9plus and rbk23 in last 2-3 months. I have had most success with deco m9(house 2500sq ft plus backyard). I had it for $220 last deal from costco. Rbk23 was noticeably worst. Rbk50 and deco m9 were almost equal in continuous connection and range but for the form factor I liked deco most.

Warning to those who have IOT devices that only run on 2.4ghz band. It is a pain in the ass to connect them to this mesh system. Orbi combines the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands into a single ssid with no way to separate them.
This was my main pre-purchase question to NETGEAR today and I was unable to get any clarity! How does this mesh router direct the cameras to the 2.4Ghz band??

Be warned, if you require and need to set up two separate SSID's, one for 2.4 and one for 5, Orbi doesn't allow you to do that through their software. There is a hack, but Orbi doesn't natively allow it. Netgear insists that setting up two separate SSID's defeats the whole purpose of a "Mesh" network. Netgear recommends buying one of their other routers if you need separate WiFi networks (one for 2.4 GHz and the other for 5).

do you know how good it is compared to the new eero: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...0DER&psc=1 i know that this one is tri-band but the eero is newer model, so i think there could be better things or not?
Since both have discounts, I don't really know which one to buy

agreed. this is subpar compared to the rbk50.
I have the RBR50, any idea about how good mine is compared to these or the RBK50?

Amazon warehouse deal came used. Had to do a reset on all of the orbis. I have 400mbps internet and it was only achievable right next to the router. Anywhere else and max is 300mbps. Returned it promptly.

It's automatic. The cameras will pick up the 2.5ghz spectrum of the ssid.

Dang. I was really hoping to move to a mesh network, but didn't realize you can't have more than 1 ssid. I have about 100 smart devices and don't feel like re-configuring them all to the same ssid.

Do all mesh networks only allow 1 ssid, or just the Orbi?

I have 3 veelops (one tro band and two dual) from Walmart Black Friday combo last year that keeps dropping nodes - would this be an upgrade?
I've had nothing but trouble with Velop systems but I've installed a few Orbi RBK50 systems for customers and they've been rock solid.

The Orbi RBK23 can handle up to 800Mbps over 5Ghz AC WiFi and 400Mbps over 2.4Ghz, it should work fine.
Is this theoretical or tested? I bought the Orbi 3 pack about 2 months ago and I couldn't get past 350-400 Mbps on my gigabit right in front of the main unit. I was using an S10 on 5 Ghz.

I then tried the Nighthawk 8000P and was able to hit 700 Mbps. The Orbi couldn't exceed it.

Yes, I also use spectrum and have no compatibility issues with this router ( as its just a router, I still use Spectrum Modem).

But for everyone else who are looking at this to purchase, netgear's orbi app is horrible. I had to reinstall like a zillion times even just to login and when it miraculously let yous login after few re-installs its very very slow.

Overall the product works fine though, but forget about doing anything with their mobile app.

Curious. Android or iOS for the Orbi app?

iPhone here (11 Pro) no app issues.

For those curious I've got the RBK53 and Xfinity 600MBS Service.
Connected to an Arris SBG7580AC (WiFi disabled of course.)

Orbi is great for all my WiFi only smart devices. Very happy.

They're regularly available refurbed through Amazon and Woot for $180. It's currently $190 on Amazon but was $180 last week.
